Influences of parity, age and mineral and trace element mixture on lysozyme activity in mare’s milk during early lactation period

چکیده
The aim of this study was to elucidate the influences of parity, age and mineral and trace elementmixture-supplementation on the course of lysozyme activity in mare’s milk during early lactation period. The interrelationship between equine milk lysozyme activity and calcium content was also tested. Lysozyme activity was measured by the modified turbidimetric method using Micrococcus lysodeiktikus as an indicator germ. Calcium content in mare’s milk was assayed using the atomic absorption method. Lysozyme activity averaged 66500 ± 12814 U/ml with a range of from 3800 to 115500 U/ml in milk of 24 trotter mares during the period from the 6th to 60th day postpartum. Multiparous and old (10-14 years) mares showed significantly (P<0.05) higher mean values compared with their primiparous and young counterparts. Mares supplemented with mineral and trace elementmixture and not conceived during foal-heat, manifested significantly (P<0.05) higher initial lysozyme activities than controls. Lysozyme activity and calcium content in mare’s milk was found to be strongly correlated (r = 0.6072). These data suggest that very high lysozyme activity in milk can, above all, be considered as a protective factor for new-borns. Moreover, high concentration of lysozyme in milk can certainly be a considerable factor for the low udder infections susceptibility. The strong correlation between lysozyme activity and calcium content can be attributed to a particular stability and enhanced activity of equine milk lysozyme.

Relationship between season, lactation number and incidence of clinical mastitis in different stages of lactation in a Holstein dairy farm
The aim of the present study was to compare the occurrence and duration of clinical mastitis in different seasons, stages of lactation period and parities in a Holstein dairy farm in Iran. A retrospective epidemiological survey from April 2005 to March 2008 was conducted on 884 clinical mastitis cases of 7437 lactations. Data of each case including calendar-date of mastitis onset, days in milk ...
متن کاملLysozyme Activity in Buffalo Milk: Effect of Lactation Period, Parity, Mastitis, Season in India, pH and Milk Processing Heat Treatment
Lysozyme activity in buffalo milk in relation to the period of lactation, parity of animal, weather conditions and udder infections was studied. Effect of storage and heat processing of milk on lysozyme activity was determined. Lysozyme activity was higher in buffalo milk than in cow milk. Buffalo colostrum showed lysozyme activity 5 times of that in mature milk. Lysozyme activity in buffalo mi...

The study aimed to determine factors affecting the dry period length and effect of dry days on milk yield, milk composition and lactation length in the next lactation of dairy cows. Data used for analysis included 7264 lactation records collected from 2012 to 2016 on 4737 Holstein cows raised in 152 herds. The statistical model used to determine the factors influencing the dry period length sho...

The purpose of the given work was to study the dairy efficiency of the delivered, local and crossbreed goats in three different generations (F1, F2 and F3), derived from their crosses, as well as the biochemical composition of milk and some bloodplasma hormones, participating in the process of lactopoez. For the biochemical tests of milk we have selected casein and serumproteins, iron in lactof...

Bivariate random regression models were used to estimate variance components of test-day milk yields (TDMY) in the first and second lactations of Iranian buffaloes. Data included 10,133 TDMY records from 862 Iranian buffaloes for first lactation and 786 for second lactation which were collected from 1993 to 2011 by the animal breeding centre of Iran. The models of analysis included the fixed ef...
